On writing

The current mood of withabandon at www.imood.com

A friend of mine tried to tell me yesterday that, as a writer, I should spend as much time editing as I do writing.

(WHAAAAT?!)

I read a Scott Meredith (from the Scott Meredith Literary Agency) book about writing to sell and he suggests that you should write tightly enough that you don't have to DO that much editing.

I haven't found that I have had to do an extensive amount of editing, I just have a few little things to fix logic-wise.

On the other hand, completely unrelated to theories and ideals, market standard demands that a "good" romance author write approximately 1.5 novels a year and publish at least 1 per year. That would mean I would spend FOUR months writing (I took about a year for this one spread out), and FOUR MONTHS editing (OH. M. GEE.)... and it would be horrible.

Anyways. I just don't think that's a profitable way to write at all.

In other news, it's Rex's birthday today.

And Bronwyn is my magikal dream horse! (She farts butterflies and rainbows!)

Likewise, though I do appreciate a constructively critical comment on occasion, I prefer non-hateful and thoughtful comments with respect to myself. I shouldn't have any problems with that though, we're all grown ups here, right? Please note that any offensive, aggressive and anonymous comments will be deleted from my comments, notes and guestbook, as I like knowing that the rest of my readership doesn't have to read that trash. Also, the HTML on this design has been designed solely by myself, Amanda Neal, and song lyrics are from the song "Wild Horses" by Natasha Bedingfield.
